This weekend (oct 4th-5th) I went to the ottawa geek market with my GF Kauritsuo, and it was AWESOME!!!

I had no idea it was going to be so much fun.  The first day it felt really busy and there was an excitement in the air, the second day felt very mellow and i was able to do a lot of walking around and met a lot of really cool people.

The volunteers at the Nepean Sportsplex (the con's location) were amazing, enthusiastic and very helpful.  The coordinators even gave the volunteers Vouchers of various denominations ($5-$20) for them to spend at booths in the market.  I thought that was a brilliant idea, as it rewarded the volunteers, and also boosted the sales for the vendors.

I think the coolest part was the variety of sellers that were at the market.  Comic con had tons of actual stores that came to sell their goods, but like, i can go to any comic shop to get the same stuff really... At the geek market i was astounded at the amount of private enthusiasts that brought a part of their collections to show off/ find new owners.  There were TONS of old school videogames of every type, GI Joes, Transformers (TONS OF TRANSFORMERS) and SO MUCH LEGO.  If you are ever going to buy lego, dont waste your money on Ebay or whatever, go to these conventions/markets and check out the bulk bags of lego these people have to sell.  I saw a huuuge bag of mixed lego (good stuff too) being sold for $15... there must have been 500 pieces at least... maybe more.  I asked the lady selling it about her collection- she told me it was all her husbands and she was selling this stuff to make room at home!!  needless to say, her giant bags of lego lasted only a few hours on the first day.  (i would have gotten some, but Kauri would have killed me... i have too much as it is).

There were fantastic cosplayers everywhere!!!  I always get excited to see my favourite characters in real life, especially ones who have faded out of the limelight of the present.  There was an amazing Ayla from Cronotrigger that looked perfectly spot-on.  I am too shy to talk to them most times, but it's still really cool to watch how excited everyone gets when they are in costume.

I have a skeletor costume that i love to wear at cons, but this time i didn't bring him.  I don't really know why, maybe it was because our booth was very cramped (it was a middle booth...never again..) and it would have been a bother to squeeze by with all that buffness in the way.  Also, i really need contacts... skeletors mask is AWESOME, but sucks when you can't see other peoples.

If you are a shy person, i recommend cosplaying a character with a mask, i never feel shy when i dress as skeletor (i love the voice and i try to emulate the personality that Robot Chicken has made-its hilarious).  The best part is if you cant think of something funny or cool to say the mask kind of speaks for you--no one can tell that you are cringing in the moment, or like, pulling an 'i dont know what to say face'.   I bet all the storm troopers feel the same way...

I still dont have many things to sell (my GF is the one that makes ALL THE THINGS) but someday i would like to get a table next to hers and see if i can make some cool stuff to sell all my friends that i meet.

We will definitely come back for the spring Geek Market, i hope anyone that lives in Ottawa, or surrounding area would come check it out, it was a LOT of fun.

So, I haven't posted hardly anything since i started working again, but it doesnt mean that i havent been drawing (more like doodling), so i think now im just gonna try to post my little doodles from now on, cause i like em, and i think its about time i add some life to this little ol DA page.

I started today by finishing up my CatWizard that my GF and I jokingly created together while playing some DnD.  It started out funny, but now i actually think hes awesome.

  Hope youse guys like it!

OH, and thank you for all the Fav's and comments and everything!!!  It's really friggin sweet to see that ppl are looking at my stuff, (even tho sometimes i dont know how to respond) I really appreciate all the positive feedback. :)

Back At Work

2 min read
wow, so much time has passed since my last entry, or even my last post..

Things get crazy when you get back to work.  Looking back, I had a pretty good time off, I didn't accomplish everything i wanted to, but i did make a couple decent sculptures between jobs.  Other than that, it was visiting with family, christmas, a few birthdays, and then BAM right back with a new contract.  Im not complaining, work is work, but maaan i loved me my time off.

Fast forward, and now its JUNE, time files soo fast the next time i update this DA account its gonna be NEXT Christmas..  Oh well, life is good, I just wish i had some more time to spread the love here on DA a little bit, practise more drawings, post some more animations--that stuff is really really fun.

On a different note, COMIC CON was amazing this year.  It was my first time going and i am definitely going back next year-i might even have a few things to sell by then.  Even if i dont, my amazing GF is gonna knock it outta the park, and I'll just have to be content walking around the booths as my Fav alternative persona 'Skeletor' hahaha, that guy is soo fun to be.

Hope everyone else around here is having a good time, working hard, and getting some creative time in, without it life can get pretty boring.  Also, Fire Emblem :)

WOO!!! what an amazing time to be finished my last contract!! My girlfriend and I both wrapped up the last episodes of "Camp Lakebottom" this week, and now we have a little under 2 Months off till our next contract begins!! I LOVE TIME OFF, especially at Christmas time!

So what am I gonna do with all this time???   TONS!!

Besides catching up with Videogames, comic books and all my friends and their babies, I am going to become FULL TIME SANTA CLAUS!!  Im going to make as many gifts as I possibly can before christmas this year.  I am pretty decent at sculpture (some day ill post pics for proof.... maybe with all my time off !!!?)  and I really want to make gifts for all the special peoples in my life.

If any of you awesome Deviants have sculpture suggestions for me, I would love to hear them.  I can get pretty bogged down in my own ideas, and it's really fun to hear from other people, especially with all the amazing art on DA for inspiration.

Thanks for reading, I hope you all are having a great beginning of winter!

This is an excerpt from a conversation i had about developing a short film idea... I liked the way it sounded, so i thought i would just copy-paste it here.

i can give you some starter things to think about right now, i dont even need to know what your story is about for these questions

they apply to every story ever made

and every presentation or film

so dont respond, just have these guys in mind when you think about your idea

"why are you making this" --- you could just want to show off how cool a character is (Naruto doing a Rasengan!!)

"i want to show a triumphant moment"-- (a montage of Naruto training, and then learning the Rasengan!!)

"i want to show sadness and despair, i want the audience to FEEL something"-- (Naruto walking alone, in the shadow of his father and Pervvy Sage)

(Lots of naruto.. dont know why its in my head) BUT

basically, you need to figure out your motivation at some point, before you start to put your idea into a Presentation Format (IE a Film)

so i guess a good setup for a statement is, "I want the audience to feel ________"

this isnt the MOST important question, BUT it will influence ALL of your cinematic choices, it will funnel your film into a single direction, leading you that emotional payoff

all good films have an emotion at the center, especially short films, as they are directed mostly to a singular moment

---- end of convo (for nowwwww)
